Solar Boost 3024iL’s advanced fully automatic 3-stage charge control system will properly charge flooded lead-acid, AGM and GEL batteries resulting in improved battery performance with less maintenance. The dual 30/40 amp rating will deliver at up to 30 amps in 24 volt systems, or up to 40 amps in 12 volt systems. An automatic or manual equalize function is also provided to periodically condition flooded lead-acid batteries. To further enhance versatility, a user configurable auxiliary output and Blue Sky Energy’s advanced IPN™ network interface are also included.

The user configurable auxiliary output can serve as either a 20 amp load controller, or as a 2 amp auxiliary battery charger. The Universal Communication Module (UCM) provides a full featured communication bridge or gateway between Blue Sky Energy’s Integrated Power Net (IPN™) based charge controllers and external systems.

Blue Sky Energy’s proprietary IPN Network allows multiple charge controllers to communicate with each other and coordinate their activities to charge the battery as a single coordinated charging machine. The IPN network also allows multiple charge controllers to share a battery temperature sensor and remote display.

The UCM attaches to the display connector of any IPN based charge controller to receive power and network communication. The UCM then provides multiple standard communication interfaces which may be used simultaneously. These standard communication interfaces allow easy access to data and setup parameters for all charge controllers on the network. If an IPN-ProRemote is present on the IPN network it’s full featured battery system monitoring functionality and associated setup become available as well.

A standard Modbus RTU interface is provided both as isolated RS-485 and TCP\IP Ethernet based Modbus/IP. Additional Ethernet connectivity includes a built in HTTP web site server allowing data view and parameter setup with a standard web browser either locally, or globally over the Internet without a subscription. The ability for periodic real time FTP data upload to a remote server is also provided.

The UCM also provides 128 days of datalogging of key performance parameters. The data is available as a downloadable Microsoft® Excel® compatible file stored in nonvolatile memory. The file may be downloaded remotely via the embedded web site, transferred to a laptop locally, or the UCM may be taken back to the office for file download and analysis.

Example Datalog File

This example datalog is from a test system consisting of a SB3024iL, SB2512iX, IPN-ProRemote and a UCM, all interconnected via the IPN Network. The UPS type system was basically in standby mode during this 20 day period consuming about 8 amp-hours per day. The datalog file provides a wide array of information including min/max battery voltage, min/max battery amp-hours from full, max discharge current, current/voltage/amp-hours produced by each charge controller, and so on.

The IPN-ProRemote combines full-featured charge controller monitoring and battery system monitoring into a single user friendly remote display. A bright crisp backlit LCD display with plain English language text and three simple front panel keys is extremely easy to use.

With the IPN-ProRemote you no longer have to guess how much battery capacity remains. A high accuracy calculation of remaining battery capacity compensates for a variety of factors including charge/discharge current, battery size, type, temperature and how the battery was brought back to full charge. It even learns from past battery behavior to continuously improve accuracy!

The IPN-ProRemote also monitors and controls BlueSky Energy’s IPN based charge controllers. It can monitor both the combined total and individual status of up to eight IPN charge controllers on a single IPN network. Depending on the particular charge controller model, certain additional parameters or settings can be accessed or modified with the IPN-ProRemote.

By combining an advanced battery system monitor and charge controller display into a single unit, the IPN-Pro Remote eliminates the need for a separate battery monitor. It also simplifies installation and eliminates the headaches of trying to setup and synchronize separate charge controller and battery monitor systems.

The IPN-Remote display provides basic monitoring for Blue Sky Energy’s IPN compatible charge controllers. The unit displays battery voltage, output current and charge control system status for up to 8 charge controllers on a single IPN network. A bright crisp low power LED display is used to provide excellent readability in any lighting. The Charge Status indicator displays present charge control system status, and shows relative battery state of charge. The versatile IPN-Remote shows battery voltage as measured by the charge control system. When the battery is being charged the display toggles between battery voltage and charge controller output current. The current display can be configured to show the total output current from all controllers on the IPN network, or the output current from a particular controller.

Multiple IPN-Remote displays can be placed on a single IPN network even if an IPN-ProRemote is already present.
